Who should I call if death occurs when we are away from home?

Be sure to call us first and we will get the necessary information and be able to make arrangements for getting the body of your loved one back home.

What if death occurs in our home, who do I call?

If death occurs in your home, usually the county coroner, police or sheriff’s office or Hospice is notified first. Either you may make that call or, you may call us and we will make all arrangements for the removal to the funeral home.

What is an unattended death?

An unattended death is a death that takes place that no one witnesses! If you are in one room and the individual that dies is in a different room, that is an unattended death.

What is the cost of a funeral service or cremation?

Prices for funeral service or cremation vary as to what services are selected, or the casket, vault, or urn that is chosen for burial purposes. Because of the wide variety of choices available to you, there is no set price for a funeral or memorial service.

Is it possible to have a viewing time and funeral service before cremation?

Yes it is! We would need to prepare the body as for a funeral service, but a rental casket or a cremation casket is used for public viewing and service. Please call us for the many options available to you and your loved one for the type of service you would prefer.

What is the difference between a funeral service and a memorial service?

A funeral service is a service with the body present and a memorial service is a service without the body present!

Do you have regular office and visitation hours?

Our regular office hours are from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. When we have public visitation for viewing, we are open from 8:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Some families may have a special request that need to be discussed with the funeral director.

What does a cemetery space cost? How much are opening and closing costs?

Once again, cemetery spaces vary in price in different communities. However, in the McCook cemeteries, Memorial Park Cemetery and Riverview Cemetery, each space is $300 plus $150 for perpetual care for residents, and $300 per space for opening and closing. You need to call (345-3343) the person at the cemetery as to what spaces are available and you need to pay for that space at the city office.
