Beth Lynn Messersmith, age 68, of Curtis, NE passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte, NE.
Beth was born June 8, 1953 to Robert and Stannis (Clark) Bosley in McCook, NE. Beth was the third of six girls born to this marriage.
While attending school in Hayes Center, NE she was active in band, first on the flute, next on the French Horn and then the tuba. She also played the piano along with taking dance and voice lessons. Beth was also active in Pep Club, 4H (showing a lamb and entering horse back riding competitions) and Job’s Daughters during high school.
She was married to Steven Deloit Messersmith on March 13, 1970. To this union four boys were born: Shannon, Chad, Todd and Travis.
Beth worked for many years in the ASCS/FSA office in Hayes Center branch. Upon Steve and her moving to McCook, she was transferred to work in the branch office in McCook. She truly enjoyed this position, as it allowed her to use her extremely sharp numbers skills as well as her extremely sharp “visiting” skill! Mom really did love talking and helping farmers and every individual she could possibly talk with and help!
She was an active member of the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Hayes Center and a member of the BPO Does in McCook. Her love of music was everlasting and lead her to a singing role in the McCook community play, The Sound of Music, which was also her favorite movie. She loved to crochet and made countless blankets for her kids and grandkids. Many of which included the color purple, as that was her favorite color. Mom always loved animals and we cannot remember a time when she did not have at least one poodle in the house. Another of her favorite past times was “crafting”, especially with her grandkids. Many MANY bracelets, colorings, paintings and fingernail paintings took place in her living room. Not to mention the several messes that were made by the kids. To which she would so gently smile, chuckle and say, “Ohh heavens, it really is ok…we just have to clean it up now”! Mom truly did have the largest, most caring and gentle heart in the world! Beth also really enjoyed camping. Her love of friendship and seeing others smile allowed her to sit, listen to the laughs, watch all of the smiles and truly enjoy being out where people were genuinely enjoying life…just as she was when she was in those settings!
But, it was her faith and love of family that kept her moving ever forward. Beth was an extremely caring person that always put everyone else first. She could not wait to spend time with her boys, grandkids and great grandkids. There was never a time when she would not completely stop what she was doing to spend time with these loved ones. She could always be found at any of the boy’s numerous events when they were growing up and was always their biggest supporter.
Beth diligently served the Lord and is now hand-in-hand with him serving as our precious Angel!
Beth is survived by her husband, Steve Messersmith of Curtis, NE.
