Biography

Bette Jane Maruhn was born March 19, 1927, to George Ernest and Jane E. (Allison) Johnson at Strang, Nebraska.

She grew up in Fremont and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1939. She graduated from Kearney Teacher's College in 1943 with an Elementary Education Degree. She taught school for 20 years at Elm Creek and Republican City.

She moved to McCook in 1993.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church, their Ladies Fellowship and the Retired Teachers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son Steven; three sisters, Leona Moreau, Evelyn Radford and Verma Hilstrom; and one brother Cleo Johnson.

Survivors include her son, Gregory Dean Lilyhorn of Royse City, TX and one granddaughter of Omaha.

At her request her body was donated to the Anatomical Board and will be cremated. There will be no public service.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
