Carol Jean Barber

Carol Jean Barber, age 74, of Culbertson, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at her home in Culbertson.

Carol was born May 2, 1944 in Benkelman, Nebraska to parents Alfred Lyle and Frances Maxine (Cemer) Hanes.  She was one of five children who grew up in Culbertson, graduating from Culbertson High School with the Class of 1962.

Carol married Gary D. Barber in Oberlin, Kansas on July 3, 1963.  To this union five children were born.  The family made their home in Culbertson.

Over the years, Carol enjoyed spending time camping and fishing with her family, as well as crocheting, embroidery, sewing and cooking wonderful meals for family and friends.  She also spent countless hours tending to her garden and flowers.  She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed attending their many activities.

Carol was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness and was baptized on August 18, 1961.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant son, Shawn Michael Barber.

Those left to mourn her loss include her husband, Gary Barber of Culbertson; son, Damon Barber of Culbertson; daughters, Danette (Lee) Kramer and Michelle Remmenga all of Hastings, Nebraska and Karina (Jon) Fisher of Oberlin, Kansas; brothers, Dewayne (Sandra) Hanes of Broken Bow, Nebraska and David (Gale) Hanes of McCook, Nebraska; sisters, Judy Brunk of McCook and Becky Hanes of Greeley, Colorado; as well as twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren and other extended family members and close friends.
