Catherine Elisabeth Remington

July 25, 1932 — September 13, 2014

Catherine Elizabeth (McConville) Remington was born July 25, 1932 in Frontier County, Nebraska to Thomas Patrick and Elizabeth Catherine ('Lillian' Colling) McConville. She passed away September 13, 2014 at Bryan LGH in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 82.

After moving from the family farm, Catherine worked at St Catherine's Hospital in McCook as a nurse's aide. Then in 1952 she met the love of her life, Alden Vern Remington. They met on a Blind date and were married a few short months later in Indianola, Ne. They made their home in McCook Nebraska. They were married for 60 wonderful years and blessed with 9 children, numerous grandchildren and great grand children all of whom she adored.

Catherine loved her role as a homemaker. Her biggest enjoyments in life were her family. She loved to cook and bake, and was especially known for her bread and pumpkin doughnuts. You were always assured to walk into a kitchen full of freshly baked and canned foods. Alden and Catherine enjoyed each other's company- holding hands on their daily walks, drinking a hot cup of coffee and conversation. Catherine also had a love of travel, and her bags were always half packed and ready to leave at any given opportunity. Always taking family vacations when the kids were growing up and later traveling after retirement.

Catherine was a devout Catholic and member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She was a very active member of the Legion of Mary, Lady of Fatima Circle, and Altar society for St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Catherine was preceded in death by her soul mate and husband, Alden, her parents, brothers LaMoine and Dick McConville, sister Eileen Wane, granddaughter Alisha Browder, and son-in-law Douglas Colby.

Survivors include her daughters, Bonnie (Jim) Schwartz of Clarkson, NE, Roselyn (Mike) Gall of Cambridge, NE, Carolyn (Rocky) Stone of McCook, Noreen Colby of Cambridge, NE, Rhonda Remington of Palmer NE, Sharilyn Remington of Thornton, CO, and Christine (William) Lawrence of Arvada, CO; sons, Ronald and Roy both of McCook; brother, Robert (Kathy) McConville; sisters, Cecelia Saladen of Santa Fe, NM, Marilyn (Dennis) Malleck of Ness City, KS;17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be given in her name.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 17, 2014 from 1:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.

Rosary will be Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Gary Brethour as Celebrant. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell.
