David Ray Ashley

David R. Ashley, age 70, of McCook, NE passed away November 28, 2018 at Nebraska Heart Hospital in Lincoln, NE.

David was born April 13, 1948 in Wichita, Kansas to parents Earl T and Mary Bell (Ships) Ashley.

David joined the United States Marines on August 5, 1966 and was honorably discharged on July 29, 1968.  He served during the Vietnam War and was awarded the following medals: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

On November 19, 1996 David married Renae (Ebert) Ashley in Oberlin, Kansas.

David was a member of the McCook Eagles.  He had a love for guns, wood working, wood sculpting and treasure hunting with his metal detector.  He also enjoyed spending time visiting with friends at Old Sarge’s Bar in McCook.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Renae Ashley in 2015; and two brothers in law, Richard Ebert and Robert Ebert.

David is survived by two brothers in law, Randy (Rebecca Smart) Ebert of Platteville, Colorado and Rick (Sue) Ebert of Oberlin, Kansas; sister in law, Sheila Ebert of Culbertson, Nebraska; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
