Mr. David E. Hanes, age 69, of Culbertson, NE passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at Community Hospital in McCook, NE.

David was born December 24, 1951 in Benkelman, NE to parents Alfred Lyle and Frances Maxine (Cemer) Hanes.  He was one of five children born to this union.  David attended school in Stratton, NE where he graduated from Stratton High School with the Class of 1970.

David married Gale (McMichael) Hanes on July 3, 1991 in McCook.  The couple was blessed with five children.  David was a longtime employee of Parker Hannifin where he had worked for the last forty years.

David’s hobbies included hunting and fishing and he was a lifetime member of the NRA.  David was a family man who cherished spending time with his grandchildren. He was an excellent cook who loved to grill outdoors for his family, and he also enjoyed boating and taking care of his many animals.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father in law; and his sister, Carol Barber.

Those left to celebrate his life include his wife, Gale Hanes of Culbertson; children, Dale (Lisa) Rowe of Hastings, NE, Travis Hanes of Palisade, NE, Diana (Darin) Staab of Hays, KS, Yolanda (Robert) Matson of McCook and Candace Hanes of Lincoln, NE; brother, Dewayne (Sandra) Hanes of Broken Bow, NE; sisters, Judy Brunk of McCook and Becky Hanes of Greeley, CO; as well as his ten grandchildren.
