A wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Mrs. Delores Kay Cappel passed away on June 10, 2025, at the Community Hospital in McCook, NE, at the age of 84.

Delores entered this life on December 13, 1940, in Wauneta, Nebraska the youngest of 9 children to Theodore and Susie (Herbert) Einspahr.

Delores grew up in Wauneta, NE, it was there that she met Claude Cappel prior to his entering into the Unites States Navy. They were married in Colorado Springs, Colorado on November 7, 1957. To this union eight children were born: Douglas, Teresa, Steven, Rodney, Cheryl, Pamela, William and Michael. They shared 62 years of blissful marriage until Claude’s passing in 2020.

Following Claude’s discharge from the service, they made their home north of McCook for many years before building their retirement home Northwest of McCook where she lived until the time of her passing. Along with spending their lives farming together, Delores also worked for Fisher’s in McCook, drove a school bus for many years, and was a member of the St. Patrick’s altar society. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling, spending time with the grandkids, reading books and getting together with Avon ladies.

Preceding Delores in death were husband, Claude Cappel; her parents, Theodore and Susie Einspahr; son, Douglas (DC) Cappel; grandson, Justin Kraft; great grandson, Isiah Cappel; father and mother-in-law, Glenn and Loretta Cappel; sister-in-law, Geraldine Palmer; step-granddaughter, Desirae Walz; brothers, Richard, Donald, Wayne, Robert, and Alvin Einspahr; and sisters, Norma Schultz, Millie Long, and Beulah Purdy.

Those left to celebrate her life include children, Teresa (Dallas) Hayes of Greenwood, NE, Cheryl Blackwell of Tomball, TX, Steven (Kelly) Cappel of Culbertson, NE, Rodney Cappel, Pamela Cappel, William (Nikki) Cappel, Michael Cappel (friend Gloria Bechtal), and daughter in law, Terri Cappel all of McCook, NE; fifteen grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; sisters-in-laws, Kaye Einspahr, Marty Einspahr, and Donna Callum; brother-in-law Richard (Kathie) Cappel; and along with nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends.

Memorials contributions, in lieu of flowers, are suggested to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or McCook Community Home Health and Hospice, 1301 East H Street, McCook, NE 69001.

A public visitation will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at 5-7 pm at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, McCook. 

A Recitation of the Rosary will follow the visitation at 7 PM.

Funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, McCook, at 10:30 AM on Monday, June 16, 2025, with Father Bernard Kimminau as celebrant. 

Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery.
