Delores "Kate" McConville

Delores Catherine (Kate) McConville, age 81, formerly of Indianola, NE passed away on August 14, 2022 in San Diego, CA.

Kate was born into an Irish Catholic Farm Family on November 20, 1940 in Frontier County to parents Joseph Leo and Mary Catherine (Sweetman) McConville.  She was one of eight siblings who grew up on a farm near Indianola and Stockville, NE.

Kate graduated from the 8th Grade at District 27 in Frontier County.  She attended high school at St. Elizabeth Academy in St. Louis, MO, graduating in 1958. Kate earned her MSN in Nursing from George Washington University in Washington, DC.  Kate then began her teaching career at Washington University in St. Louis, MO.  After moving to California, she worked for many years in psychiatric nursing care. By the end of her career, Kate had worked for over forty years in the nursing profession.

Kate loved all things Irish.  She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies Club and for many years was a member of the Sisters of The Most Precious Blood where she served as a nun, Sister John Michele. Kate enjoyed volunteering at the food pantry, Father Joe’s Homeless Shelter and the Santa Sophia Food Shelter in San Diego.  She had an extensive collection of angel statues as well as her music cd collection.

Kate will always live on as a quiet woman of strength and love.  Even though she lived with many health issues, Kate had a happy smile, a warm heart, a strong will, high intelligence, humor and faith.

Kate was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Leo, Harold, John Eldon and Richard Dale; and her two sisters, Rita who died in infancy and Ruth Metz.

Those left to celebrate her life include her brother, Charles (Jane) McConville of Indianola; brother-in law, George Metz of San Diego, CA; sisters-in-law Pat McConville of McCook, NE and Janelle McConville of Minden, NE; and her many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
