Dian E. Parsons

Dian Eurilla Parsons, age 83, passed away 21st of June, 2018 at McCook’s Community Hospital.

Dian was born 4th of March, 1935 to Roy F. and Mildred E. (Adams) Wilcox of rural McCook, NE.

Dian was an avid coupon clipper and bargain hunter. She loved gardens and planted many annual flowers and vegetables in her early years. She enjoyed cooking and baking and the special love which easily comes in the gathering of friends and family around kitchen tables. As a young adult, Dian was a teacher which was a special ability she demonstrated all of her life.

Over the years her work was both in and out of the home: she baby sat and made many wedding and celebration cakes. She worked in cafeterias for McCook schools and cooked at the Keystone. She retired from the Hose Plant and later, enjoyed a second retirement from the kitchen crew at Hasting’s Regional Center.

Dian was a scout and 4H leader when her children were young. She had a special place in her heart for children and children loved her.

Dian is survived by her special friend Don Norman of Kenesaw, NE; daughter Debra Prescott of Red Wing, MN; daughter Doreen Parsons and son Michael “Rock” Parsons both of McCook. Grandchildren: Mitcheal Prescott (Maria Thalacker) and Evan Prescott (Brianna Hayes) all of Red Wing, MN; Rachel (Nik) Sunkari of Manasas VA; Abigail Parsons of Richmond, VA; Haley and Jacob Parsons both of Atwood, KS; and great granddaughter Lanora Mae Prescott of Red Wing, MN; sister in law Phyllis (Bob) Wilcox of McCook, NE; brother Dale (Phyllis) Wilcox of KS; sister Dona Hughes of KS; as well as many beloved nephews, nieces, cousins, extended relations, and friends. Honorary grandchildren include: Ryan Prescott; Matt (Erica) Glebe; Tina (Stephanie) Glebe; and Abbie Horton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Gary; older brother, Robert “Bob” Wilcox; and son-in-law, Mitch Prescott.

Visitation with family and friends informally gathering will be Friday, June 29, 2018 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life will be 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Wilcox officiating.

Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be given in her name.
