Dion Eugene Norman

Dion Eugene Norman, age 79, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018 at his home near Indianola.

Dion was born on May 17, 1938 to Eugene Elsworth and Myrva Dolene (Houser) Norman in McCook. He graduated from McCook High School in 1957.

He enlisted in the US Navy on July 31, 1961. He served during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on July 30, 1967.  Following his time in the Navy Dion worked as a mechanic in the McCook area for many years until his health forced a change in occupations.  He then moved to Colorado in 1989 and worked as a maintenance supervisor at a shopping mall until retiring in 2001.  He then returned back to Southwest Nebraska to enjoy his retirement and being closer to family.

On March 31, 1979 he married Alice Norton in McCook.

Dion was a past member of the Nazarene church. He enjoyed woodworking in his free time.

Dion is survived by his wife, Alice Norman of Indianola; daughter, Belinda Serrano and husband, Frank of Bird City, KS; brother, Robert Norman of Omaha; six grandchildren, Jessika, Dakota, Matthew, Jacob, John and Emily; three great grandchildren, BrookLynne, IzzaBella and KynLeigh.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Jerry Norman.

Memorial services will be 11:00 AM on Friday, April 13, 2018 at the West First Chapel with Pastor Johnny Walker officiating.   Inurnment with Military Honors will be in the Cedar Bluffs Cemetery at 2:00 PM Friday, April 13, 2018.
