Dixie L Dyer

January 12, 1956 — June 30, 2025

McCook, Nebraska

Dixie L. Dyer, mother to John and Cathy, passed away on June 30, 2025, in Lexington, NE, at the age of 69.

Dixie was born to parents John Chester Pearl and Sharon Kay (Foster) Matson on January 12, 1956, in McCook, NE. She graduated high school in North Platte, NE with the class of 1947.

On October 10, 1975, she married Terry Wayne Dyer at Guyman, Oklahoma after 3 days of knowing each other. Terry and Dixie were married for almost 30 years until Terry’s passing in 2005. They moved to the McCook community in 1998.

Dixie loved word searches, coloring, and anything pink. She enjoyed listening to music, especially when her daughter Cathy would play her instruments for Dixie. She was allergic to flowers; however, she admired the flowers from a distance. Dixie’s signature catchphrase was “Ya know.” She attended the McCook Baptist Church.

Dixie will be remembered for the love she shared with everyone else. She was there for her family and friends during the hard times. She was always on the phone calling to check on her loved ones. Dixie loved being a mom and a grandmother.

Dixie is preceded in death by her parents and husband Terry Dyer.

Survivors include her son, John Elbert Dyer of McCook; daughter, Cathy Louise and husband, Larry Schutz, of McCook; granddaughter, Elizabeth Jane Schutz of North Platte; brother, Howard (Sandy) Matson of Kansas; sister, Deanna (Jack) Griffin of Oklahoma; Step-siblings Terry (Alan) Riley of Kansas, Lee (Pam) Foster of Oklahoma, Robert Foster of North Platte; Steve (Drew) Foster of McCook, and Dennis Foster of McCook; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a private family service at a later date.
