He was a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Duane L. Henn passed away on May 25, 2025, at the age of 89, at McCook Community Hospital in McCook, NE.

Duane was born on August 10, 1935, in Raeville, Nebraska to parents Marcellus A. and Kristine O. (Week) Henn. He was oldest of nine kids, and Duane attended St. Bonaventure School in Raeville, Nebraska.

Duane selflessly enlisted into the US Army on November 2, 1955. He was honorably discharged on March 15, 1956. After his time in the Army, Duane became a member of Culbertson American Legion Post #133.

On April 8, 1958, Duane married the love of his life, Marguerite L. Stuhr, at St. Bonaventure Church in Raeville. The couple was blessed with four children.

He resided in Petersburg, NE and Elgin, NE in his earlier years. He then moved to McCook with his family and worked numerous jobs from 1967 to 1970. From 1970 to 2000, Duane worked for Archer Petroleum. In 1986 he moved to York, NE, and back to McCook to retire in 2000. He had a lifelong love of farming. In his retirement years, he enjoyed helping Deb and Brent on the farm during harvest driving grain cart. He lived at Kinship Point in McCook, NE for the last 2 years of his life, and enjoyed the company of all the people there.

Duane was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. He was an avid Nebraska Husker Fan. Duane could always be seen with his portable radio and headphones listening to some game. He was a supporter of American Legion baseball and helped in the announcer’s booth in the 1970s.

Duane was a supporter of his family. He attended all his children’s many athletic events, he even attended as many of Bob’s college football games as he could. In Duane’s retirement, he attended his grandsons’ baseball, basketball, and football games.

Those left to celebrate Duane’s life are his children, Janet (Lonnie) Moon of McCook, NE, Robert Henn (fiancé Rena Barkley) of Lincoln, NE Deb (Brent) Hofman of Indianola, NE and Karla Rien of Lincoln, NE; brother, Gerry (Kay) Henn of Grand Island, NE; sisters, Deanna Stokes of Petersburg, NE, Shirley (Vet) Stuhr of Petersburg, NE, Bev (Mike) Seier of Neligh, NE; Jody (Les) Daniels of Petersburg, NE; sisters-in-law, Vickie Henn of Omaha, NE and Terri Schmitz of Albion, NE; 5 grandchildren, Kelsey (Glen) Wahrman, Paige Rien, Tessa Rien (Fiancé Garret Lien), Drew Hofman and Dylan Hofman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Duane is preceded in death by his parents, wife Marguerite Henn, brothers Norman and Richard Henn, sister Marilyn Schrad, brothers-in-law Walter Stokes and Dave Schrad.

Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date; St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, PO Box 1040, McCook, NE; or Community Health Foundation, PO Box 132, McCook, NE 69001.

A recitation of the rosary will be held at 5 PM on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, McCook, NE.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at 10:30 AM, with Father Robert Froeschl.

Burial with military honors will follow the mass at Calvary Cemetery, McCook, NE.
