Edward "Tom" Volz Jr., age 93, passed away on May 17, 2026, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, NE.

Tom was born to parents Edward Thomas and Bearnice Walthina (Bush) Volz Sr. on June 4, 1932, in York, NE. He graduated high school from North Platte Senior High with the class of 1950.

On August 17, 1952, Tom was united in marriage to Shirley Ann White in Lexington, NE. Tom and Shirley enjoyed many extensive trips throughout their marriage, visiting many of the states as well as abroad. They enjoyed 66 loving years of marriage together until Shirley’s passing in 2018.

Tom was an active and devoted member of the McCook congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He did a lot of volunteer work at Bethal in New York, and he participated in establishing Kingdom Halls across Nebraska. Tom loved the ministry work.

In his professional life, Tom and his brother Waldon Volz established Volz Plumbing and Heating in McCook, NE. In his free time, Tom was a pilot and enjoyed flying.

Those left to celebrate Tom’s life are his sister-in-law Marylin Volz of McCook, NE; nephew, Troy (Karen) Volz of McCook, NE; and numerous spiritual brothers and sisters.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley Volz, and brother Waldon Volz.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall, 2100 West J Street, McCook, NE 69001.
