Elaine M. Soncksen, age 90, of Hayes Center, NE passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Community Hospital in McCook.

Elaine was born July 11, 1933 in Blue Hill, NE to parents Fred J and Louise S (Buck) Luhn. She was the youngest of five siblings. The family moved to McCook in 1940 and Elaine graduated from McCook High School with the Class of 1951.

On June 14, 1953, Elaine married the love of her life, Arthur Soncksen in McCook. They were blessed with three children: Beverly, Michael and Bradley.  Arthur and Elaine recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

Elaine was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where she enjoyed serving in a variety of ways. She was also local 4-H Leader and member of the Sunny Hills Stitcher’s Club.  Elaine was a key member of the family’s farming operation and will be remembered for the many large gardens she grew over the years.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Beverly Soncksen; and siblings, Gertrude (Gus) Schultz, Vera (Rue) Troester, Marlin (Dorthy) Luhn and Wilma Jean Luhn.

Those left to celebrate her life include her husband, Art Soncksen of Hayes Center, NE; sons, Mike (Lynn) Soncksen of McCook and Brad (Patti) Soncksen of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Christopher (Alicia) Soncksen and daughter, Kinley, of Lincoln, NE, Peter Soncksen of McCook, NE, Erik Soncksen of Lincoln, NE, Joseph Soncksen and fiancée, Rylie Egle, of McCook, NE and Abigail Soncksen of Johnson City, TN; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
