Frank Finley Carter

November 29, 1925 — June 4, 2014

Frank Finley Carter of Plano, TX, formerly of Palisade, NE passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Emeritus Collin Oaks Assisted Living in Plano, Texas. He was 88 years old.

Frank was born on November 29, 1925 at Palisade to parents, Robert Morris and Bernice (Finley) Carter. He graduated from Palisade High School in 1944.

On May 11, 1945 he entered the US Army and served in the 3rd Infantry during World War II. He was honorably discharged on November 13, 1946.

On January 9, 1947 he married Twila Ferguson. They made their home in Palisade where Frank farmed. He also worked for JC Penney Company, Beverly Elevator and Southwest Public Power District until his retirement.

Frank was a member of First United Methodist Church, American Legion, Masonic Lodge #216 A.F. and A.M., McCook Elk's Lodge, and Palisade Community Service Organization. He was also a volunteer for the Palisade Fire and Rescue Squad.

He loved life and his family and friends. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, woodworking and card playing. He was honored as a Veteran to take the Hero's Flight to Washington, DC.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Twila Carter in 2006; his parents, Robert and Bernice Carter; three sisters, Carroll Agee, Colleen Dame and Evelyn Klipple; and four brothers, William, Keith, Leslie and Lee Carter.

He is survived by his children, Lynette and husband, Tom Jorgensen, of Plano, TX, Teresa and husband, Bill Simpson, of Richardson, TX, and Douglas Carter and wife, Colleen, of Palmer, AK; grandchildren, Jennifer Bailey, Michael Jorgensen, Melanie Weigert, Matthew Carter, Daniel Carter, Ashley Parker and Rebecca Simpson; great-grandchildren, Aidan and Liam Bailey, Cynthia, Thane and Aurora Carter, Audrey and Sean Carter and Tristan Jorgensen; and two sisters, Shirley Fanning of Wauneta and Eloise Rota of Napa, CA.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Palisade Veteran's Memorial.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 4:00 - 8:00 with the family greeting friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 9, 2014, Palisade United Methodist Church with Pastor Bonnie McCord officiating.
