George Judson Tiller

George Judson Tiller, age 92, of McCook, NE passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Hillcrest Caring Center in McCook.

George was born February 14, 1931 in Bartley, NE to parents William Bryon and Myrtle Millicent (Bush) Tiller. He was one of four children. When George was two years old, the family moved to Frontier County. George attended school at Zion Hill District 47 through the 8th grade. He graduated high school from NE School of Agriculture in Curtis, NE with the Class of 1949.

George went right to work on the family farm and in 1953, he began his own farming operation. On May 5, 1957, George married the love of his life, Lois Margaret (Johnston) Tiller in Indianola, NE. The couple was blessed with two children. George continued to farm while also enjoying wood working and collecting old tractors, two of which were a 1937 John Deere AR and a 1947 Farmhall H.

George will be remembered as a lifelong farmer.  After his retirement, he kept an active interest in agriculture, continuing to work with several young farmers. He was a member of the Republican Valley School Board from 1980-1984. At that time, George and Lois moved to McCook.

George was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Tiller and his two sisters, Lucille Greenlee and Marcia Bartels.

Those left to celebrate his life include his wife Lois Tiller of McCook, NE; children, Jeff Tiller of Lincoln, NE and Nancy Ridlen of Mullen, NE; five grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
