Griffith Frederick Reiners

April 22, 1924 — September 12, 2014

Griffith Frederick Reiners was born April 22, 1924 and entered Heaven on Sept 12, 2014.

Griff was born to Frederick and Amanda (Hinz) Reiners and was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Amanda died June 16, 1936. Fred remarried Doris Carter on February 8, 1945.

Griff attended school in Marion and entered farming as a young man. Griff married Fern Maxine Warren on March 12, 1946. Three children were born to Griff and Fern – Karen, Alan and Janet.

Griff and Fern lived in Marion, NE until moving to McCook in 1951 where Griff started working at the Ford Motor Co. He worked there in several capacities, but was the Parts Manager for many years and could quote hundreds of parts numbers from memory. Griff retired in 1987 and returned to his first love – farming. This time though his farm was his vegetable garden. Many neighbors and friends benefited from his green thumb.

Griff was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church and served as Head Usher and on the Finance Committee. Griff loved baseball and was a life-long St. Louis Cardinal fan. He would sit in the car to hear the St. Louis games broadcast. His love of the Lord and his family were obvious in his daily life.

Griff is survived by his wife of 68 years Fern; children, Karen (Mervin) Troester, Alan (Karen) Reiners, and Janet (Scott) West; four grandchildren, Julie (Micah) Jaynes, Chad Troester, Bryan (Stephanie) Troester, Kelsi Reiners; three step-grandchildren, Andrew Bohnenkamp, Jana West and Dylan West; seven great-grandchildren and two step great- grandchildren; sister, Vernice Sines; and many relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his father; mother; step mother; and unborn infant son.

We grieve that our Husband and Dad has left us behind but Rejoice that he is in his Heavenly and Eternal Home and know that we will all be together again.

Memorials may be given to Peace Lutheran Church, PO Box 240, McCook, NE 69001 or to KNGN Radio, 38005 Road 717, McCook, NE 69001.
