Harley M. Cochran

August 3, 1940 — February 18, 2016

Harley Cochran, age 75, went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, February 18, 2016 at his home in McCook surrounded by family.

Harley was born on August 3, 1940 to Fred Howard Cochran and Amy Wavelene (Bennett) Cochran in Lost Creek, West Virginia.

Harley married Norma Jean Nelson on June 20, 1959 in Great Bend, Kansas. To this union four children were born.

Harley and his family moved to McCook in 1978. He was a regular attendee of the Evangelical Free Church and also a member and volunteer at the YMCA in McCook. Harley enjoyed playing fast pitch softball in his younger days and taught many family members how to pitch. He especially enjoyed following the kids, grandkids, and great grandkids to all their activities.

Survivors include his wife Norma of McCook; daughters Lori (Jim) Stull and Karen (Tim) O’Neil both of McCook; sons, Steven (Mary Kay) Cochran of Kearney, NE and Bradley (Melanie) Cochran of Imperial, NE; three brothers-in-law, Larry Wisehart of Lyons, KS, Rick (Hanneke) Nelson of Delta, CO and Andy (Jody) Nelson of Conifer, CO; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Freddie Martin Cochran; and one sister, Dixie Lee Wisehart.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday February 24, 2016 at the Evangelical Free Church in McCook with Bruce Lester officiating.

Memorials may be given in his name.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
