James "Jim" David Nelson

September 7, 1957 — January 28, 2015

James "Jim" David Nelson, age 57, of Culbertson, Nebraska passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Cherry County Hospital in Valentine, Nebraska.

He was born September 7, 1957 in Benkelman, Nebraska to Omar A. and Fannie G. (David) Nelson. He attended Benkleman High School.

On July 28, 1982 he was united in marriage to Connie Berry in Kearney, Nebraska. He later married Debra Davis on January 2, 1995, in McCook, Nebraska. Jim was employed as a truck driver for Heinz Trucking for many years until his health prevented him from working. With time his health eventually improved and he started trucking again for Moore & Son Trucking

Jim was very family and friend oriented. He loved spending time playing cards, shooting pool, pitching horseshoes, and relaxing at the sandpits. He loved barbecuing and was an avid Husker fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents Omar and Fannie Nelson and brother, George Nelson.

Survivors include Connie Berry of McCook; children, Sarah Nelson, Shawn Nelson and Jason Stephens and wife, Codie, all of McCook; sisters, Patty Rose and Brad Merklin of St Francis, KS and Carol Confer and Jim Miller of Olathe, KS; five grandchildren, Noleigh and Kasyn Stephens, Dillon and Chloe Brown, and Dalton Nelson; special friends, Cherie Woolwine of Culbertson and Cindy Felzien of Wheeler, KS; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.

Memorials may be given in his name.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 1, 2015, 4-8:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 2, 2015, 2:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Terry McCorkle officiating.
