Joan Ann (Shafer) Dack of McCook passed away Monday, July 14, 2014 at her home. She was 61 years old.

Joan was born on August 25, 1952 at St. Joseph, MO to parents, Billy Franklin and Pauline Evelyn (Geyer) Shafer. She graduated from McCook High School in 1970.

Joan married Bradley Eugene Dack on December 2, 2011 at McCook where they made their home. Joan worked in various capacities which included nursing, sales clerk, and school bus driver. Her hobbies included crocheting, Sudoku, gardening and fishing. Her other interests included watching wrestling, Husker football, and was a diehard Elvis Presley fan. Her grandchildren were her greatest enjoyment in life.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Arthur Stemper; father, Billy Shafer; sister, Billie Diane; and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Survivors include her husband, Bradley Dack of McCook; mother, Pauline Shafer of McCook; sons, William Carey and wife, Misty, of New York, Rocefus Williams and wife, Sandy, of Holbrook, and Kenneth "Spunk" Williams of McCook; daughters, Wendy Ulmer and special friend, Gerald Brown, of McCook and Michelle Williams of Elwood; three brothers, Bob Shafer and wife, LeeAnn, of Lincoln, Rick Shafer and wife, Dianne, of McCook and Mike Shafer and wife, Heather, of Indianola; sister, Susan Tarnow of CA; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given in her name.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 16, 2014 from 1-8:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home. Friends may go online at www.carpenterbreland.com to extend condolences to the family.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 17, 2014, 2:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Pastor Dave Wilson officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.
