John Adam Degley

January 25, 1958 — November 30, 2016

John Degley, age 58, of McCook passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Great Plains Health in North Platte.

John was born in Wiesbaden, West Germany on January 25, 1958 to John and Margot Kay (Maur) Degley.  His family moved from West Germany to Hardy, NE when he was 4 years old.  He graduated from Superior High School in 1977.  Following high school he attended SCC in Lincoln, NE receiving an associate’s degree in mechanics.

John married Shaunna Marquardt on September 18, 1978 in Superior, NE.  To this union two children were born.  The marriage later dissolved.

John moved to McCook in 1985. He was employed at Dayco/Parker in McCook at the time of his death.  John was looking forward to his retirement next year, having worked since December 21, 1987.

John loved to ride his Harley; he was able to go to Sturgis several different times.   He also spent time hunting, fishing, doing mechanic work and he was an avid Husker and Green Bay Packer fan.

John is survived by his daughter, Jessica Degley of Palisade; son, Doug Degley of McCook; brother, Rodger Degley of Hardy, NE; six grandchildren, Morgan, Natasha, Madalyn, Aaliyah, Silver and Hope.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 1:00 – 8:00 on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Bales officiating.   Inurnment will take place in Superior at a later date.

Memorials may be given to the charity of one’s choice.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
