Margaret “Peggy” C. VanWormer, age 60 of McCook, NE passed away Friday, January 13, 2017 at her home in McCook surrounded by family.
Peggy was born on February 7, 1956 in McCook, NE to Merrill James “Pete” and Margherita C. Palmer Knapp.
Peggy married Mike Haas in 1977 in San Diego, CA. Where she lived until 1989. She married Bill VanWormer in 1991 in Lake Tahoe, CA. and resided in northern CA. Peggy moved back to McCook in 1995. She was the mother of five children.
Peggy enjoyed live music and reading, camping and swimming. She especially loved to spend time with family and friends.
Peggy worked as a nurse’s aide and later care taker for her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one brother Mike Knapp, and one sister Patricia Dewester.
Peggy is survived by her children Jeff and wife Tracy Knapp of Springfield, OR, Mike and wife Lynette Knapp of Belchertown, MA, Daniel Linegar of Alliance, NE, Nikki Haas Lytle of McCook and Jonathan Haas of McCook, NE; step-son Jason Durrigan of Northern CA. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, and many “Adopted” children, nieces, nephews and close friends.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
