Marjorie C. Malleck, 85, died Sunday, July 4th at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 15th, 1936, in McCook, NE to Louis and Susie (O’Dea) Colling. She married the love of her life, John (Gene) Malleck October 19th, 1957 at St Patrick’s Church in McCook.  This union lasted 63 years.

Marge was a longtime resident of McCook. She graduated from Red   Willow High School in 1954, and St Francis School of Nursing in 1957. She was a Registered Nurse for several years at St Francis Hospital (Wichita), Corvallis Hospital (OR), St. Catherine’s Hospital in McCook, and a school nurse in many Southwest Nebraska schools for 29 years;  including McCook Public Schools.

Marge was a loving and devoted wife who enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, as well as a close circle of friends. In   retirement, she attended daily Mass and swim workouts at the YMCA. Many fondly recall the countless rice huggie socks that she loved gifting to others as a warm hug from her. She also enjoyed playing the piano and having sing-a-longs with her family. Her grandkids will always fondly remember her rendition of her favorite song she would sing to them  “A Bushel and A Peck.” She was a completely selfless woman who always put others ahead of herself. She was God’s servant with unwavering faith.

Marge was preceded in death by her 8 siblings.

Survivors include her husband Gene of McCook, & children Dan (Kay) Malleck of York, Lori (Kent) Hilker of McCook, Lisa Malleck, Dale (Kim) Malleck, & Lois (Kent) Dodson; all of Lincoln, NE, eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews who made it a point to visit often.
