Mary Ann Hlavinka

Mary Ann Hlavinka passed away at Great Plains Health in North Platte, NE on May 14, 2025, at the age of 75.

Mary Ann was born on September 6, 1949 in David City, NE to Melvin G. and Mary Florence (Pollard) Grim. She was one of four children born to this union. Mary Ann graduated from McCook High School in 1967 and attended McCook Community College in McCook.

Mary Ann married David E. Hlavinka in Lincoln, NE on September 5, 1970. To this union two children were born.

Mary Ann was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in McCook. She was an avid bowler and played on several leagues in her younger years. Mary Ann loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed camping and boating at the area lakes.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, one son Dana Hlavinka, one sister Margaret Anderson, one sister-in-law Nelda Grim, two brothers-in-law Larry “Hank” Dicke, and Michael Anderson.

Mary Ann is survived by her daughter Denise Hlavinka Wiese of Lincoln, NE; one brother Gary Grim of McCook, NE, and one sister Theresa Dicke of McCook, NE. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Michael, Taylor, Riley, Laken, Zoey and Liam. 1 great grandchild, nieces, nephews and extended family.

Memorials are suggested in her name to be designated at a later date.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook, NE, with Father Gary Brethour as celebrant.

Inurnment is to follow at the Memorial Park Columbarium in McCook, NE.
