Micheal R. Evans, age 64, of Maywood, Nebraska passed away Friday, December 26, 2014 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte, Nebraska.

Mike was born July 12, 1950 in McCook, Nebraska to parents Hershel R. and Shirley E. (Mosley) Evans, Jr. Mike grew up in the Hayes Center area, graduating from Hayes Center High School in 1969. He then went on to graduate from Mid Plains Community College in North Platte with a degree in Electronics Technology. Mike served in the United States Navy from 1971 to 1975.

Mike married Nancy Ward in Hayes Center, Nebraska on December 26, 1970. To this union two sons were born, Patrick and Tanner. The family made their home in Maywood where Mike worked as Maintenance and Transportation Supervisor for the Maywood School District.

Mike was a thirty year member of the Maywood Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of the Hayes Center American Legion Post #287 and the Congregational Church of Hayes Center. Mike recently retired from the Maywood Ambulance Department following twenty five years of service. He enjoyed serving on the Maywood Town Board from 1988 to 2008 and was also involved in various community organizations.

Mike’s hobbies included gardening and a love for animals. He was an avid Nascar fan.

Mike is preceded in death by his father, Hershel Evans, Jr. and his father in law, Robert Ward.

Mike is survived by his wife, Nancy Evans of Maywood; his sons, Patrick Evans of North Platte and Tanner (Laura) Evans of Hoover, Alabama and granddaughter Addilyn Jo Evans; mother, Shirley Evans of Hayes Center; brothers Jack (Jana) Evans of North Platte, Kelly (Sharon) Evans of Cambridge, Nebraska and Lanny (Rikka) Evans of Hayes Center; mother in law, Ruth Ward of McCook; sister in law, Beverly (Brent) Klein of McCook; brothers in law, Leigh (Jeannie Hadwick) Ward of Lincoln, Nebraska and Ray Ward of McCook; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
