Norma Beth Acton, age 94, of McCook, NE passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.

Norma was born on November 5, 1931 in McCook to parents Arthur T. and Beulah F. (Hendershot) Steele. She was one of seven children who grew up in McCook, attending school and graduating from McCook High School with the class of 1949. After high school Norma received her associate degree at McCook Junior College.

Norma married the love of her life, Duane E. Acton, on May 31, 1953 in McCook. After Duane served in the United States Army, the couple moved to Long Beach, California, where Norma was employed by Starkist Foods for over thirty years as the corporate finance manager. After retirement, Norma and Duane moved to Lake of the Pines at Auburn, California, where they resided for the next thirty years.

In 2018, Norma and Duane returned home to McCook where they enjoyed activities with many friends and regularly attended the McCook Memorial Methodist Church. Norma adored their dogs, watching birds, loved flowers, and enjoyed reading and working jigsaw puzzles. She was a great shopper and was always a classy dresser. Norma was very fond of all her nieces and nephews.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Hazel (Harold) Jessee, Dorothy (Merle) Confer, Doris Jean (Ed) Piech, Marion (Ernest) Elliott, Arthur Dale Steele, and Billie (Jean) Steele.

Those left to celebrate her memory are her husband of 72 years, Duane Acton of McCook, NE; twenty-one nieces and nephews, and many friends and extended family members.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30am on Monday, April 20, 2026, at the McCook Memorial Methodist Church with Pastor Jeff Kelley as Officiant.

Private family inurnment will take place after the service.
