Patricia Ann Kotschwar

Patricia Ann Kotschwar, age 82, formally of Stratton, NE, passed away Wednesday, February 08, 2017 in St. Paul, Nebraska where she was residing.

Patricia was born to parents George J. and Wilma E. (Ahrens) Schleeman in McCook, NE on October 29, 1934.  Pat grew up in the McCook community where she also attended school.  She was one of eight siblings.

Pat married Stanley “Jiggs” Kotschwar on March 2, 1953 in McCook.  The couple was blessed with three children.  The family made their home in McCook where Pat worked various jobs, including waitressing, before moving to Las Vegas in 1962.  It was while living in Las Vegas that Pat earned her Cosmetology Degree.  She owned and operated her own beauty shop while Jiggs worked as an electrician.  The family relocated to Oakley, Kansas in 1971 before settling in the Stratton community in 1975.  Pat resided in Stratton until 2012 when the loss of Jiggs and her declining health required her to move to St. Paul with her daughter, Cindy.

Pat loved spending time with her family.  Playing card games, as well as working crossword and jigsaw puzzles were among some of her favorite past times.  She will also be remembered for her love of flowers, gardening and canning.

Patricia is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Schaible of St. Paul and Rhonda Glinsmann of Grand Island; siblings Donna Drewes of Lincoln, NE, Sharon (Beryl) Gummere of Stratton and Terry Schleeman of Cambridge, NE; grandchildren Chris (Sarah) Edwards of Fordyce, NE, Staci (Justin) Geis of Grand Island, NE, Kayla Glinsmann of Columbus, NE and Christina (Justin) Thurman of Henderson, NV; great grandchildren Evan Edwards of Elkhorn, NE, Cody Edwards of Fordyce, and  Kevin and Andrew Thurman of Henderson; brother in law Kent Kotschwar of McCook; and Laverna Ely of McCook.  Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jiggs on August 22, 2010; son, Rick Kotschwar on March 9, 2010; grandson, Brian Edwards; brothers, Herman Schleeman and Ted Schleeman; and sisters, Raymounda Koons and Georgia Longley.

Graveside Memorial Services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather at Fullers Restaurant following the Memorial Service.
