Phoebe Mary Anne Bullis

Phoebe Mary Anne Bullis, age 94, of McCook, NE passed away Monday, October 29, 2018 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.

Phoebe was born September 18, 1924 in Peabody, MA to parents John J. and Grace J. (Gaouett) O’ Connor.  She was one of two children born to this union.

Phoebe attended school in Beverly, MA, graduating from Beverly High School with the Class of 1942.  Following high school, Phoebe worked for a local telephone company during WW II.

On September 25, 1949, her 25th birthday, Phoebe married the love of her life, Addison “Andy” Bullis in Beverly.  The couple was blessed with one daughter, Nancy. The family made their home in Beverly where Phoebe enjoyed working as a volunteer for disabled youth.  She was also an artist in Rockport, MA where she was known as “Febe the Artist”.

Phoebe was a member of the Catholic Faith.  She and Andy enjoyed traveling the world together over the years.  Following Andy’s passing, Phoebe moved to McCook to be close to her daughter in 2003.  Phoebe was an avid reader and often read ten books each day.  Outside of her love for literature, Phoebe loved her dogs.

Phoebe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andy Bullis; and her brother, John O’Connor.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Tim) Sughroue of McCook; as well as several nieces and nephews.
