December 11, 1957 — February 18, 2014

Randy R. Koetter passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at the Ellsworth County Medical Center in Ellsworth, Kansas at the age of 56. He was born December 11, 1957 to Woodrow Raymond and Emma W. (Springer) Koetter in McCook, Nebraska.

Randy attended McCook High School. Randy spent his entire professional career in the grocery business and was owner and operator of Wilson Family Foods. For him, the grocery store was not just a job, it was a way of life, a family tradition, a service to the people he loved and cared about the most, his family, friends, and neighbors.

He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed camping, and playing cards with his family at the lake.

Randy loved his family unconditionally and was especially proud of his grandchildren. Second only to them, was his love for his dog Jonesy, his constant companion and faithful friend.

Survivors include his girlfriend Michelle W. Weinhold of the home; daughter, Chelsea Koetter and boyfriend Charles Estrada of Wilson; brothers, Martin Koetter and wife Diane of Downs, Kansas, Kenard Koetter and wife Lisa of Ellinwood, Kansas, and Raymond Koetter and wife Sandi of San Diego, California; sisters, Janice O’Grady and husband Norman of McCook, Nebraska, and Joan Schamel and husband Donald of McCook, Nebraska; and two grandsons, Isiah and Elijah. Also surviving a nephew Robert, as close to a loving brother as a man could want, and wife Diane Harrison of McCook, Nebraska, as well as many extended family and friends.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents Woodrow and Emma Koetter, and his second wife, Jan Marie (Heckinlively) Mick.

Visitations will be Sunday at Carpenter-Breland Funeral Home in McCook from 4 to 8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6 to 8.

Services will be held Monday, February 24, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Carpenter-Breland Funeral Home in McCook, Nebraska with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.

Memorials are suggested to the McCook Humane Society, 100 South Street, McCook, NE 69001.

Randy was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. Like the groceries that fed our bodies, his legacy, life, and memories will forever feed our hearts and souls. But for now, there is a sign on the front door that says, “Gone Fishin’.”
