Reynaldo “Chapo” Rodriguez Sigala, age 83, of McCook, NE passed away surrounded by his family at his home in McCook.

Chapo was born March 2, 1942, in Satevo, Chihuahua, Mexico to parents, Zoilo Rodriguez Huerta and Rosaura Sigala Meledrez. He was one of four siblings who grew up in La Esperanza, Satevo, Mexico.

Chapo married Luz Elena Ruiz Villa on June 7, 1969, in Satevo, Chihuahua. Together they raised six children. Over the years Chapo worked as a cowboy on several ranches in Mexico and eventually, Hayes Center, NE.

Outside of being a cowboy, Chapo loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He would often reminisce about his childhood and share stories of his youth. Chapo enjoyed gardening and taking care of his fruit trees, barbequing with friends and family and traveling to family gatherings, graduations and sporting events.

Chapo was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eleodoro Rodriguez Sigala; and brother-in-law, Manuel Chavez.

Those left to celebrate his life are his wife, Luz Elena Ruiz Villa of McCook, NE; children, Zoilo (Manuela) Rodriguez of McCook, NE, Edgar (Rebecca) Rodriguez of Hastings, NE; Erick Rodriguez of McCook, NE, Luz “Lucy” (Alonzo) Rodriguez of Wichita, KS, Maria (Miquel) Rodriguez of West Point, NE and Hilda (Jose) Rodriguez of Denver, CO; sisters, Paz (Ezequiel) Rios and Belem Chavez, both of Mexico; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and a host of extended family members.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 from 6 to 7pm at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, McCook.

A Prayer Vigil of the Rosary will follow the visitation, beginning at 7:00 pm at St Patrick’s Catholic Church, McCook.

Mass will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, May 17, 2025, at St Patrick’s Catholic Church in McCook with Father Bernard Lorenz as Celebrant.
