Walter Richard “Dick” Koetter, age 88, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Community Hospital of McCook.

Dick was born June 7, 1929 to Arthur and Mary (Lepper) Koetter, Sr. in McCook.

On September 15, 1951 he married Marilyn J. McKillip in McCook.  To this union six children were born.

Dick entered the US Army on April 19, 1951 and was honorably discharged on April 14, 1953.

Dick loved working on his farm and ranch.  He served several terms as a school board member for the District 41 school district.

He never missed family events.  He enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends, working puzzles and reading westerns.

Dick is survived by his children, Deb (Kent) Meyers, Richard Koetter, Diana Wilkinson, Doug (Mellisa) Koetter, all of McCook; Donna (Mark) Friehe of Elkhorn, NE; daughter-in-law, Leila Koetter of McCook; brothers, Arthur Koetter of McCook, James (Barb) Koetter of Pocatello, ID; sister, Veldron Harmon of Kearney; 16 grandchildren; Jason (Staci), Jeremy (Bambi), Ryan, Derek (Natalie), Erin (Brent), Justin (Misty), Joshua, Lindsay (Chet), Kayla, Seth, Olivia, Tara (Jeremy), Mitchell (Kristin), Ross, Logan, and Dalton; and 12 great-grandchildren; Caitlyn, Dylan, Jaci, Wyatt, Jaden, Owen, Parker, Piper, Darin, Brekyn, Bryer and Rhett; and a host of family and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn in 2011; son, Darin in 2003; brother, Bernard; sister, Rose Doyle.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 30, 2017 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at 6:30 PM with Rosary to follow at 7:30 PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Monday, July 31, 2017 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Gary Brethour as Celebrant.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be given in his name to be designated at a later date.
