Ricka Evans, age 74, entered the presence of the Lord on October 16, 2025, in Lincoln, NE.

Ricka was born on November 3, 1950, in Frederick, OK to Jay Lambert and Betty Davison. Ricka and her three sisters grew up in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. In her younger years, she enjoyed horse riding and reading comic books.

Ricka worked on many harvest crews throughout her life running combine for many wheat corn, and soybean harvests. One year, she found herself in Hayes Center, NE in Lanny Evans’ yard needing her combine fixed. Ricka and Lanny fell in love, and the two were married on March 7, 1986, in North Platte, NE.

Ricka cared and loved her family, friends, and “fur babies.” She enjoyed watching rodeos, especially when her daughter Susan would ride. Ricka was a very avid reader; during Lanny and Ricka’s long trucking trips, Ricka would come home with about 15 books already finished. She read every western novel that Louis L’Amour wrote. Ricka attended the Hayes Center Community Church.

Those left to celebrate Ricka’s life is her husband of about 40 years Lanny Evans of Hayes Center, NE; daughter Susan (Abraham) Hagstrom of Housten, TX; sisters Norma (David) Denton of McLoud, OK; Arlene (Danny) Keith of Sterling, OK; and Lanora Rember of Pratt, KS; granddaughter, Shanda Mogen of Housten, TX; two great-grandchildren, LeAsia and Kaiden; her loyal Australian shepherd/border coli mixed dog, Toby; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family

Ricka is preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Hayes Center Volunteer Fire Department, 500 Tate Ave, Hayes Center, NE 69032.

There will be a public visitation with family greeting friends from 5-7pm on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook, NE.

A funeral service will be held at Hayes Center Fairgrounds in the Ag Building in Hayes Center, NE, on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Glenn Littrell as officiant. Burial is to follow at the Hayes Center Cemetery.
