Rosleen “Rose” Lockhorn, age 58, of McCook, NE passed away Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE.
Rose was born August 28, 1962 in Franklin, NE to parents Henry A. and Dorothy Lucille (Lammers) Lockhorn. She was one of five siblings. Rose graduated from Republican Valley High School with the Class of 1980. She then attended McCook Community College where she obtained an associate degree in Business. After graduation, Rose worked for several years at D & E Electronics and Lord’s Hardware & Furniture before returning to the farm to help her mom.
Rose loved animals and raised rabbits, several racoons, a skunk, a coyote and a silver tipped badger whom she named Tuffy. Her first pet was a puppy named Rufus who she trained and spent many hours with. Rose loved being on the farm and was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether driving the tractor while Stanley and Myron picked up bales or going after the cows so her brothers could get the milking done.
Rose enjoyed playing eight ball and nine ball pool. She claimed two APA titles while playing in Las Vegas. Rose loved taking rides in the car or walking the dog. She also enjoyed crocheting. Rose was a people person. She loved having fun and enjoying good times with friends.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Henry in 1988 and Dorothy in 2007; as well as her brother, Stanley in 1986.
Those left to celebrate her life include her life partner, Lloyd Lavery, whom she met on December 24, 2002, of McCook; brothers, Rodney (Susan) Lockhorn of Sidney, NE and Myron Lockhorn of McCook; sister, Carleen (Wayne) Crawford of Cambridge, NE; five nieces and two nephews and many family and friends.
