Shirley Ann Bishop

September 27, 1941 — December 3, 2016

Shirley Ann Bishop, of Culbertson, NE went to Heaven to be with her Savior and Lord Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.  She was 75 years old.

Shirley was born in McCook on September 27, 1941 to Dorsey Freeman Archie Wilson  and Lula Mable (Gray).  The family lived in Hayes County, NE where Shirley graduated from Hayes Center High School with the class of 1958.

Shirley married Jack Bishop on November 29, 1959 in Culbertson, NE.  The couple made their home in North Platte and were blessed with three children.

Throughout the years Shirley enjoyed being a homemaker and worked several jobs throughout the years.  A favorite was managing a lodge in Estes Park, CO.  Her favorite past times included reading, playing cards, gardening collecting antiques, and spending time with her grandchildren.  She was a talented artist and loved the Christmas Holiday.  She was also a past member of the Messiah Baptist Church in Denver, CO.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Virgil Wilson and Dwaine and wife Kay Wilson, four brother-in-laws Reed Loomis, Paul Gigax, Leonard Walker, Gerry Felker, and a sister–in-law Pat Wilson.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Bishop of Culbertson; her two sons, Jeff and wife Eva Bishop of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Gregg and wife Jeanne Bishop of Hayes Center; daughter Shauna and husband David Schutz of Culbertson; one brother Darwin and wife Vonna Wilson of Palisade, NE; three sisters Velma Walker of Maywood, NE, Vonda Gigax of Hayes Center, NE, and Sharon Felker of Granby, CO; one sister-in-law Norma Wilson of McCook, NE as well as her five grandchildren, Jill and husband Torey Hadwiger and their children Maxon and Lincoln of Kearney, NE, Terra and husband Cameron Higgins of Palisade, NE, Michael Bishop of Lincoln, NE, Whitney and husband Ray Ashford and their children Jayden, Riya, Aliya, and Cobyn of Atwood, KS and Brady Stock of Culbertson, NE.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, 10:30 AM, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, NE with Pastor Clark Bates, officiating.
