Thomas "Tom" Alden Clevenger

Thomas Alden Clevenger, age 76, of Culbertson, NE kicked the bucket on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 in Culbertson.

Tom was born February 19, 1949, during the heart of the ’49 Blizzard, in Dodge City, KS to parents John T. and Effie May (Deaven) Clevenger. Tom grew up in Larnerd, KS and WaKeeney, KS, graduating from high school in 1967.

Following high school, Tom joined the United States Navy, serving in one Tour of Duty in Vietnam in 1968. He then served three years on the DD703 USS Wallace L. Lind during the Vietnam War. Tom was honorably discharged in 1971. He was a Patriot who was very proud of his service and country.

Tom moved to Culberson in 1975, beginning a 39-year career with the Kugler Company. The first 20 years had Tom driving a truck and later years were spent at the fertilizer plant in Culbertson. Tom retired in 2014.

Tom married Sandra K (Williams) Clevenger on March 2, 1990. He was a Husker Football fan as well as a K State Football fan. Friendships were important to Tom, and he often looked forward to a cold beer after work with friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; half sister, Barbara McCormick; and his wife, Sandy Clevenger.

Those left to celebrate his life include sons, Troy (Catherine) Clark of Aurora, CO and Bobby Williams of Culbertson, NE; daughter, Tamera (Greg) Faimon of McCook, NE; brother, Darrell (Mary Jo) Clevenger of WaKeeney, KS; sister, Laurie Clevenger of WaKeeney, KS; six grandchildren, Samantha Clark, Brandon Clark, Jacob Faimon, Stacey Santana, Duke Williams and Megan Cowen; and seven great grandchildren, Brexlie, Briella, Decklan, Kaylynn, Anthony, Bryson and Gracelynn.

Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held Monday, September 8, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Culbertson Cemetery in Culbertson, NE.
