Trace Corbin Clapp passed away tragically at the age of 41, on June 10, 2026, south of Maywood.

Born on June 26, 1984, in McCook, NE to Kent and Michelle (Monzon) Clapp. On September 29, 1989, he was blessed with a little sister, Chelsie (Clapp) Thayer, who would try to tag along with her brother as kids, this created a close bond that would carry over into adulthood. Trace attended school in McCook and graduated from McCook High School in 2003. After graduation he went to Goodland, KS where he studied Computer Technology.

Trace lived in a number of towns after Goodland, until settling in Hastings, NE for several years. Through one relationship he gained a bonus son, Cody Colson, who he adored. Afterwards he was blessed with two boys, Traceson Lee (12) and Kyisen Kent (11) Clapp, who he loved dearly.

On October 2, 2021, he married the girl he had loved his whole life Marie (Wesch) Clapp. With this union he gained a new stepson, Landen Hagemann. The couple made their home in Hastings, NE for four years, then Red Cloud, NE until making the choice to return to their hometown of McCook, NE in November 2025.

Trace was a quiet soul to those who didn’t know him; but those who did got to see the sweet, funny, and loving side of him. In his free time, he enjoyed cooking, camping, fishing, working on vehicles with or for his family and friends. In his professional life, he was a maintenance worker for McDonalds in the McCook region.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Cliff and Betty Clapp; maternal grandfather, Victor Monzon; and cousins, Travis Harsh and Todd (Moody) Campbell.

Trace is survived by his wife, Marie (Wesch) Clapp; children, Traceson Lee and Kyisen Kent Clapp; stepson, Landen Hagemann; bonus son, Cody Colson; parents, Kent and Michelle (Monzon) Clapp; sister, Chelsie (Matt) Thayer; niece, Scarlet Thayer; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends
