Violet T Blume

Violet T. Blume, age 96, longtime resident of Indianola, NE passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.

Violet was born December 10, 1925 in McCook to parents Rex and Gladys (Cook) Cross.  She was one of four children born to this union.  Violet attended school in McCook, graduating from McCook High School with the Class of 1942. She went on to attend McCook Community College for one year.

On April 8, 1944, Violet married the love of her life, Harold A. Blume in Oberlin, KS. The couple was blessed with four children.  The family made their home in Indianola, NE.

Violet was a 70+ year member of the Indianola Methodist Church where she served with the United Methodist Church Women as well as on the church board.  In her spare time, Violet enjoyed gardening and was active in several pinochle card clubs.  She will be remembered for always telling those she loved “I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around your neck”.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Blume; brothers, Richard and Donald Cross; sister, Virginia (Dave) Cynova and infant sister Mary; daughters, Thelma (Jerrell) Pickett and Pauline Jones; as well as two grandchildren, Tammy Pickett and Jesse Randolph.

Those left to celebrate her life include her children, Kenneth (Bosa) Blume of Vrlika, Croatia and Nancy (Larry) Randolph of Indianola, NE; sisters in law, Noreen Cross of Palmetta, Florida, Alice Hansen of Cambridge, NE and Janie McConville of Indianola; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 3pm on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Cambridge with Pastor David Kim officiating.

Private Family Inurnment will be held in the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Indianola.
