Walter J. Beier, 91, of the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown, IA, formerly of Culbertson, NE, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
Walter was born March 27, 1934, to Alfred and Marie (Nather) Beier in Raase, Germany. He was raised and educated in Germany before moving to the United States. He enlisted in the US Navy and served until 1960. A short time later, he met and married Pearl Wegman in 1967 in Omaha. The two had seven children they raised in Southwest Iowa. Walter later married Helen Neseth in 1998. He spent most of his career employed with Eaton Corporation, retiring in 1999. Throughout the years, Walter enjoyed working on cars with his sons. He was a man of many talents, always tinkering or working on projects around the house. In other free time he enjoyed playing chess, cooking and fishing.
Walter is survived by his wife, Helen, six children; Anthony (Tressa) Beier of Springfield, MO, Richard Beier of Tomball, TX, Sarah Reed of Fall River, MA, Mary (Michael) Beier Keane of Novato, CA, Theresa (John) McIlhenny of Des Moines, IA, and Margaret (Dave) Beier Grzeskowiak of Lake Worth, FL, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one sister, Olga Hernandez, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Tom Beier, and two brothers, Alfred and Bruno.
