William "Bill" Kennedy

William “Bill” H. Kennedy passed away Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Community Hospital in McCook. He was 77 years old.

Bill was born on January 3, 1937, in McCook, NE to James J. and Luetta Marie (Meyers) Kennedy. He graduated from Red Willow High School in 1954.

On September 4, 1960, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Schuering in McCook, NE. The couple made their home in McCook where Bill farmed, raising hogs. He also had a custom hay baling business for local farmers baling over one million small hay bales. Bill worked at the McCook Equity Feed Mill and was a custodian at Pizza Hut.

Bill was a member of First Congregational Church in McCook. He enjoyed gardening and was especially proud of his Irises. Bill enjoyed visiting at the Coop over coffee and spending time with his family.

Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Michael; and a sister Maryellen Schlagel.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Kennedy of McCook; children, Patty and husband, Tom Eisenach, of McCook; Jim Kennedy and wife, Marshell, of Goodland, KS; daughter-in-law, Tracy Kennedy of McCook; two sisters, Janice Johnson of Ballwin, MO, and Clarene Kennedy of Concordia, KS, six granddaughters, Chelyn (James) Marvier, Brianna Kennedy, Kalie Kennedy, Kari (David) Messinger, Nichole Eisenach all of McCook, MaKayla Kennedy of Goodland, KS; 3 great grandchildren, Paisley Marvier, Damien Peacock, and Niahlee Gauna.

Memorials may be given in Bill’s name.

Visitation will be at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook, Tuesday, October 7, 2014, from 1-8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 8, 2014, 10:30 a.m. at First Congregational Church in McCook with Pastor Steve Bales officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
