Daniel Eugene Haines

Daniel “Dan” E. Haines of Culbertson, NE passed away at McCook Community Hospital on July 5, 2023, at the age of 71.

Dan was born in Benkelman, NE on April 22, 1952, to parents Hubert and Helen (Ellis) Haines. He grew up in Benkelman where he graduated high school with the Class of 1971. Throughout his life, Dan was a truck driver and drove thousands of miles, ensuring freight was delivered on time for many families and companies.

In 1972, Dan served his country by joining the Navy and was medically discharged in 1973. Dan’s service to this great country was appreciated by all.

Dan was united in marriage with Linda Housley on November 24, 1984, in McCook, NE. Together, they raised their sons Daniel and Kyler. One hobby Dan enjoyed for leisure was golfing.

He is proceeded in death by his parents; and three infants, Jeffrey, Kerri, and Kody.

Those left to celebrate Dan’s life is his wife, Linda Haines; sons, Daniel (Misty) Haines of Oklahoma, and Kyler (Amy) Haines of Highlands Ranch, CO; brother, Kenneth (Francie) Haines of Benkelman, NE; sister, Linda (Ron) Sorensen of Bellview, NE; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Private family graveside services with military honors will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, at Ft. McPherson at Maxwell, NE.

A public celebration of life will be published at a later date.
