Obituary

Kathleen Ann Hesterwerth of McCook, NE passed away on February 16, 2021, at Hillcrest Caring Center in McCook.

Kathy was born June 8, 1948 in McCook, the youngest of John J. and Dorothy C. (Meehan) Hesterwerth's three daughters. Kathy grew up in McCook where she also attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School, and McCook High School graduating with the Class of 1966. Following high school, she attended McCook Community College. After graduating from college, Kathy moved from Nebraska, living in a variety of places, including California and Washington, D.C. She returned to McCook in 1995, where she lived until her passing.

Kathy was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in McCook. She enjoyed watching and feeding the birds as well as other wildlife that visited her acreage.

Kathy is survived by two nephews, Mike (Holly) Horton and Robert (Jen) Horton; three nieces, Karen Howell, Christina (Kenneth) Koslowski and, Nanette (Josh) Fisher; as well as her cousins and extended family members.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Loretta Jane (Gerald) Moser and Delores (Robert) Horton; and one nephew, Justin Moser.

Memorials are suggested in Kathy's name to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 409 East F St., McCook, NE 69001.

Visitation will be held at 9AM on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, McCook, with Recitation of the Rosary to follow, beginning at 10AM, with Father Gary Brethour as Celebrant.  Services will conclude with burial in Calvary Cemetery, McCook.
