Mary Lou (Follett) Post

Mary Lou Post, age 95, of Palisade, NE passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at the Wauneta Care Center in Wauneta, NE.

Mary Lou was born August 7, 1927 in Palisade to parents Floyd F. and Anna (Dudek) Follett.  She was one of five children who grew up in Palisade, graduating from Palisade High School with the Class of 1945.

Mary Lou married the love of her life, Verle Post, and the couple became parents to three children. Making their home in Palisade, Mary Lou was active in a variety of community activities to include the American Legion Auxiliary, Friendly Neighbor Club and the Palisade Community Service Club. She served as a Den Mother for the local Boy Scouts, helped with local blood drives and worked as the head cook for Palisade Schools for many years. 

Mary Lou was baptized at the Palisade Methodist Church on October 6, 1977 and became a member of the church on October 9, 1977. She actively served in the church as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the UMW Circle. 

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Verle Post; brothers, Don and Ralph Follet; and her sisters, Eva Pezza and Shirley Grabast.

Those left to celebrate her life include her children, Gerald “Jerry” (Patty) Post of Palisade, Steve (Brigitta) Post of McCook, NE and Theda (John) Kester of Loveland, CO; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and lifelong friends.
