Zelpha L Golding

Zelpha L. Golding, age 93, of Stratton, NE passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023, at Kinship Pointe, McCook, NE.

Born September 4, 1929, to parents Floyd and Grace (Burks) Cushing, Zelpha grew up on the north divide of Stratton. She was the first born of three siblings. She graduated from Stratton High School and taught in country schools.

Zelpha married Burdette E. Golding of the south divide on September 12, 1948 in Stratton. The couple built their house and made it their home where they were blessed with four children. Zelpha liked being a homemaker and a farmwife. She enjoyed the wildflowers in the pastures, reminiscing about family and places where family lived, recalling specific dates, and numbers of license plates and birth dates and years. 

Zelpha was a lifelong resident of the Stratton community where she attended the Christian Union Church. She took her faith in Christ very seriously, and spent countless hours reading and studying God’s Word.

Zelpha was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Kent; and sister, Karen (Ray) Yant; and two infant brothers.

She is survived by two daughters, Jane Marie (Dick Hansen) of Hastings, NE and Ann (Lynn) Sutton of Stratton; two sons, Scott (Betty) Golding and Bob Golding of Stratton; nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
